At least 22 people have been rescued, local television channel NDTV reports. The avalanche originated near the Nathu La mountain pass on the Indochinese border. This is a popular spot for local tourists who want to see the border region in the Indian state of Sikkim. The avalanche also blocked a road, temporarily trapping and rescuing about 350 tourists in the region.
