The monthly subscription of 49 euros for buses and trains in German local and regional transport is now available. Sales began Monday evening on the online platforms and apps of the regional transport companies and associations, as well as Deutsche Bahn. As soon as the customer centers of the transport companies open, the subscription can also be taken out there.
The 49 euro ticket, which can be used from May, is the successor to the 9 euro ticket that was available for three months last summer. The aim is to make regional and local public transport more affordable and thus attract more travelers. After months of bickering, the federal and state governments agreed that they would each bear half the cost of the ticket. The Federal Council approved the project last Friday, clearing the final political hurdle.
The ticket is issued as an online ticket or as a chip card and can be canceled monthly as a subscription. The monthly price is – as the name suggests – 49 euros. (sda/dpa)
