The Winnipeg Jets secured another important point in the battle for the playoffs. The Canadian team immediately recorded a 6-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils.
Two days after his goal in the 6-2 home win against the Detroit Red Wings, Nino Niederreiter scored again for his team. The Bündner striker made it 2-0 for the hosts in the 17th minute after a penalty against the New Jersey Devils, who managed to pull back to 4-0 by the end of the game.
For Niederreiter it is the 24th goal of the season. 14 seconds before the end of the game, Nico Hischier scored another consolation goal for the Devils with his 31st goal of the season.
The win keeps Winnipeg in the west in a wild card spot that qualifies them for the playoffs. They are second in this ranking, two points ahead of the Calgary Flames, who also won on Monday night.
Already qualified for the playoffs, the Devils lost ground to the victorious Carolina Hurricanes in the race to win their division. The gap to first place is three points with five games to go.
Kevin Fiala’s Los Angeles Kings definitely have the playoff ticket as well. After the 4-1 win in Vancouver, the Californians can no longer be pushed away from the top 3 in the Pacific Division.
