Two men have been sentenced to life imprisonment in India after a parrot testified against one of them. That reports, among others, “India Today”. Reportedly, both journalist Vijay Sharma’s wife and dog were killed at their home in February 2014 while Sharma was at a wedding with their two children.

The police initially had no clues about the perpetrators until the family parrot kept calling out the name of one of the two convicts – Sharma’s cousin. According to the report, police questioned the cousin and he confessed to killing the woman with the help of a friend.

Nine years after the murder, Special Judge Mohammad Rashid sentenced the two men to life imprisonment and a fine of 72,000 Indian rupees (about $810), according to “India Today”. The parrot died in November 2020.
