Applicants wanted for the most remote job in the world

class=”sc-3778e872-0 gWjAEa”>

No internet, no running water, and months of nothing but snow and ice — but some penguins are on the way. Sounds tempting? Then apply quickly: the British organization UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) is looking for five applicants for perhaps the most remote jobs in the world.

Whoever is ultimately selected will provide the southernmost post office on Earth and the visitors’ shop on Goudier Island in Antarctica and count penguins every day for five months – some 9,000 miles from Britain.

Big crowds at Antarctic job

The charity emphasized that the new employees should be resilient, healthy and environmentally conscious. The jobs are incredibly popular, said UKAHT boss Camilla Nichol. “We are thrilled to provide an opportunity like no other to live amidst a landscape that awes and amazes.”

Applications must be received no later than March 26. The successful candidates will take up their positions from November 2023 to March 2024. Last year, UKAHT received a record number of applications, following which an all-female team held the Port Lockroy fort over the Antarctic summer. (SDA)
