The German climate activists of the “last generation” attract attention time and again with roadblocks, defacement of works of art and disruptive actions at events. With the protest they want to persuade politicians to take stricter measures against the climate crisis.
Most recently, however, an embarrassing invasion of privacy at the activist group made headlines. It has been revealed that the “Last Generation” is creating psycho profiles on its members.
To find new supporters, the activists give lectures at universities, for example. An article in the “Hamburger Morgenpost” now describes exactly how the climate glues do. Potential new activists must fill out a registration form – and answer several questions along the way. These are for example: “Are you willing to go to prison for a few weeks for the ‘last generation’?”, “Are you ‘only’ maturing at the risk of being arrested?” or “Would you rather play a supporting role?”
The group apparently weighs up how far their applicants are willing to go when they apply. No wonder: those who are unlucky end up in prison. The German judiciary does not always let the climate stickers get away with punishment. In early March, the court in Heilbronn in the state of Baden-Württemberg sentenced activists to two and three months in prison respectively for blocking a road – without probation. However, the verdict did not stop her from taking to the streets again that very day.
The activists understand support as, for example, the filming of actions. Last but not least, the Hamburg climate activists advertised their next protest training on March 26 during their presentation. Sticking actions, sit-ins and other forms of civil resistance are practiced during the protest training. (nad)
