The woman who died last Wednesday in a fire in a two-family house in Felben-Wellhausen in Thurgau has been identified: it is a 94-year-old resident.
This was the result of research at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in St. Gallen, the Thurgau cantonal police announced on Friday. Firefighters found the body of the elderly Swiss woman during extinguishing work in the building. The other residents of the house managed to get to safety.
According to the police, it is still being investigated why the two-family house on Spychergasse caught fire. A local resident noticed the fire just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday evening and alerted the emergency center. When firefighters arrived on scene, part of the building was completely engulfed in flames.
