Every day the fighting in Bakhmut claims more lives. According to CNN, NATO estimates the number of casualties on the Russian side is much higher, but many Ukrainians die every day in the industrial city. According to «Kiyv Independant», unprepared soldiers are sent to their deaths. ‘Bachmut is practically surrounded’, is how a soldier describes the dramatic situation on the ground.

According to eyewitnesses, the troops are brought to the line of fire with no armored vehicles to support them and no artillery. “We don’t get any support,” complains a soldier. In addition, some weapons from World War II were used. According to them, ammunition for M120 mortars is completely lacking. Most of the drones were destroyed.

A soldier reports: “Our battalion arrived in mid-December with 500 men.” Many of them are dead after a few weeks in Bachmut. “A month ago we were 150 men,” he says. It is unclear how many are still alive. “If you get into that position, the chance of getting out alive is not 50 to 50, but 30 to 70 percent.”

Exact data on how many Ukrainian soldiers died in Bakhmut are not known. What is clear is that the situation is getting worse by the day. Not only Wagner troops are deployed in the Ukrainian city, but also regular troops. Ukrainian soldiers describe the Russian attackers as “massive waves of cannon fodder” who simply sacrificed themselves.
