“We must end this conflict as soon as possible”

Actually, the “special operation” in Ukraine should last only three days. Then Kiev should be in Russian hands and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (45) should be deposed. It turned out differently: more than a year has passed since the invasion and the invasion is not progressing.

Even Putin’s best propagandists are no longer convinced that the war can be won. A TV scene now shows this impressively. Presenter Olga Skabeeva (38) asks the Russian military expert Mikhail Chodarjonok (69) about the program “60 minutes”: “Whose side is the time now?”.

Chodarjonok gives an answer that Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin (70) is not allowed. “It seems to me that with every delivery, with every transfer of Western weapons, the armed forces of Ukraine are getting more offensive, operational and combat capabilities. So time is on their side,” he says. And adds: “I think we should end this conflict as soon as possible.”

Ukrainians laugh at embarrassing tanks

While Ukraine can count on support from the West – for example in the form of arms supplies – the Russians are slowly running out of financial resources. The British Ministry of Defense estimates that Russian reservists now only have to attack Ukrainian positions with “firearms and spades” instead of heavy artillery.

Prigozhin is stepping up the pressure

At the same time, Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozchin (61) repeatedly demands weapons and ammunition. The dispute eventually escalated so much that the mercenary army threatened to withdraw its fighters from Bachmut.

The city has been hotly contested since last summer. The battle for what was home to 70,000 people before the war is the longest battle in Ukraine’s war to date. On the Russian side, the fighting claimed heavy casualties.
