It’s an unsolved drama. In 2011, the then six-year-old twins Livia and Alessia Schepp from Lausanne disappeared without a trace. The horror throughout Switzerland was enormous. To date, the two have not been found. Only her father, who allegedly kidnapped the girls, was found dead in Italy. He had thrown himself in front of a train. The girls stayed away. Investigators believe the father killed his children. If the girls are alive, they would turn 19 in October.

This case is now back in the public eye. The reason for this is the Polish Julia Faustyna (21). It made international headlines a few weeks ago. She claims to be Maddie McCann, who disappeared during the holiday season in Portugal in 2007. She has been getting a lot of attention ever since. She tried to show her followers which facial features should resemble Maddie’s. She does not want to become famous for the case, she just wants to find out the truth, she wrote on Instagram several times. However, a Swiss software company was able to rule out a match.

Now users came up with the wild theory that the Pole could be Livia Schepp. The similarities with Livia are much greater than with Maddie, many users wrote, and it’s definitely worth taking a DNA test.

The distance between the faces is much too great

According to the online portal Radar Online, Livia’s family actually contacted the Pole and asked for a DNA test. And the young woman is more than willing to help any family member find their loved ones. She would do anything for that. Private investigator Fia Johansson, who is involved in the case, said: “We have spoken to Livia’s relatives. You want to make sure that Livia is not Julia.”

The wild theory does not seem to be confirmed. When Blick asked him about the Livia case, the CEO of the Swiss software company Ava-X from Winterthur said: “We checked that too. Again, I can say with 99 percent certainty that Julia is not Livia Schepp. The difference in faces is much too great.”

Fehrlin’s company performs so-called face-matching. Face matching is calculated using several parameters. The company normally uses this technology to identify perpetrators and thus also supports the police in their investigations. Ava-X also works with NGOs. In this case, too, Julia Faustyna can spare herself the DNA test, according to Fehrlin.
