Russian President Vladimir Putin is usually very reluctant to reveal his private life. In Russia, it should even be forbidden to report on his family. Therefore, the public only vaguely knows about the women in Putin’s life. But since the Russian offensive war at the latest, speculation about Putin’s relationship has been getting wilder.
One woman believed to play a particularly important role in Putin’s life is former Russian Olympian Alina Kabaeva. She would be the mother of two or even three of Putin’s children, perhaps even his wife. At least one of the children was born in an exclusive clinic in Ticino.
Now the doctor who supervised the deliveries has passed away in Switzerland. Just four days later, a Russian research platform revealed her name. And even Iganzio Cassis’ wife is somehow involved in the story.
Putin’s alleged old lover is Alina Kabaeva. The 39-year-old is an Olympic gold winner in rhythmic gymnastics and a former member of the State Duma. Because of her legendary twists, she is also called “Russia’s most elastic woman”.
After resigning from her political office in 2014, she became Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Media Group (NMG), Russia’s largest private media holding company.
On February 28, 2023, the Russian independent research platform “Proekt” published a slew of evidence for the relationship between Putin and Kabaeva. This shows, among other things, how lucrative the relationship with the president is for Kabaeva financially – for example, “Proekt” dug up photos of Kabaeva’s decadent penthouse in Sochi.
It has long been speculated whether Kabaeva is Russia’s secret first lady, as she and the president have secretly married. There is also speculation about how many children the couple have together – there should definitely be several.
Among the children are at least two boys: the first is said to have been born in 2015 in the Sant’Anna clinic in Lugano, the second in 2019 in Moscow. This was stated by a “reliable and well-informed source” in April 2022 from the “Sonntagszeitung”. The father both times: Vladimir Putin.
Both Kabaeva and government agencies deny this. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described rumors of the birth of a baby whose father is the president as a “journalistic joke”.
In the article in the “Sonntagszeitung”, the source confirmed that Kabaeva gave birth to at least one of the children in Ticino. A “Swiss gynecologist with Russian roots” was at her side. This also accompanied the mother in a later birth in 2019 in Russia.
The name of the medical team that cared for the mother during childbirth in 2019 has now become known by “Proekt” – including the name of the “Swiss gynecologist with Russian roots”. Her name is Natalia Thiébaud Kondratieva. A private photo published by “Proekt” shows not only Thiébaud on the mobile phone, but also two other Swiss women who are said to have assisted the gynecologist during childbirth. They are the Swiss pediatrician Petra Donati-Genet and the nurse Stella Giselu.
The photo was taken during a parade on Red Square on May 9, 2019. The trio pose in a VIP grandstand, which is only accessible to guests with an exclusive invitation from the Kremlin.
The source told the Sunday newspaper that the gynecologist knew Putin from her childhood in St Petersburg. But she emigrated to Switzerland more than 30 years ago. “But she maintained a relationship of trust with Putin,” the source said.
Thiébaud died just four days before her name was revealed by Proekt, on February 24, 2023 – the anniversary of Russia’s war of aggression.
The obituary suggests that Thiébaud’s death came as no surprise to her family. For her partner credits a slew of doctors who lovingly cared for his wife during her “brief illness.” Among them is the wife of Federal Councilor Iganzio Cassis, radiologist Paola Rodoni Cassis.

The obituary also states that the doctor was cremated and buried just one day after her death.
The clinic and the other Swiss people asked did not respond to a statement, writes Proekt.
