Power line fire: 40 percent Argentines affected by blackout ‘Most likely lab incident in Wuhan’: FBI renews coronathesis – Biden under pressure

Millions of homes have been left without power after a fire broke out on a power line in Argentina. About 20 million people were temporarily without electricity on Wednesday, the newspaper “La Nación” reported, citing the government of the South American country.

After a fire under a high-voltage line in the center of the country, the Atucha I nuclear power plant was taken off the grid for safety reasons. Other power plants also went offline.

As a result, the power went out in the capital Buenos Aires, the province of the same name and in the provinces of Santa Fe, Córdoba, Mendoza, Tucumán and Salta. In total, about 40 percent of Argentines were affected by the massive blackout. At the end of midsummer in the southern hemisphere, parts of the country are currently experiencing a heat wave with temperatures of up to 40 degrees. (sda/dpa)
