Callie Rogers (34) was 16 when she became Britain’s youngest lottery winner. 1.8 million pounds (equivalent to 2 million Swiss francs) will end up in 2003 in the account of teen.
At the time, Rogers worked as a cashier – for just four francs an hour. After she wins the lottery jackpot, she turns her head off and pays no attention to her finances.
The English girl celebrates wild parties, uses drugs and has her breasts enlarged three times. She spends 300,000 pounds (equivalent to about 336,000 francs) on designer clothes alone and gives away another 500,000 pounds (equivalent to about 560,000 francs) to friends and family.
Today, the mother of four describes winning the lottery as a “curse”, as the British tabloid “the Sun” reported Thursday. Sometimes she thought about suicide, she says. «I was too young. I went from a carefree child to an adult,” she says.
Her life was also completely out of control. The nouveau riche came into conflict with the law: under the influence of cocaine, she had an accident and was banned from driving. The officers who arrived on the scene had to use pepper spray to calm them down.
Eventually all the money was gone and nothing was left of the millions. Rogers arrived in harsh reality – and received benefits.
That’s not all: in 2018, she was attacked by two women at night. She was beaten up and left unconscious in a pool of blood. In the attack, she suffered broken ribs, chipped teeth, a concussion and permanent vision damage.
Rogers is now back in school. In September she will start training as a nurse.
Today she is at peace with herself, she says. “Taking a break and working on yourself to become a better person pays off,” she says. She is proud of herself and the future she is building for herself and her little family.
“We all make mistakes in life and I made some when I was young and naive. Winning the lottery has been a big part of making me the person I am today,” she says. lottery bosses are asking them to raise the age limit to 18. (Good)
