Climate activist remains at the table in court

Suddenly climate activist Henning Jeschke (23) stands up and exclaims: “I’m stuck. I have to do it because we have to talk about a climate crisis. I’m sorry.” So far relatively normal for a climate glue – but the environment is extremely unusual: the young man stuck with a lawsuit against him in the dock. A video he recorded himself from the Berlin courtroom was published on Twitter by the group “Last Generation” on Thursday.

The trial is about several actions of the group “Last Generation” in the period from March to June 2022. The suspect is said to have participated. The charge of the public prosecutor’s office is tough: coercion, resistance to police officers and a dangerous intervention in road traffic.

Carried out of the hall with the table

Because the climate activist objected to a fine, there was a new trial on Thursday. After the stabbing action, the judge left the room. Court officials must detach the accused, as the “mirror” writes. The public was also ordered out.

Finally, Jeschke and the table were carried out of the room. The suspect would have interrupted the judge several times. “We need to make sure that the people who continue to destroy the climate with their private jets are brought to justice,” says Jeschke, just before a bailiff cuts him off and the video ends.

A little later, another photo of him appeared on the Internet. It shows him sitting on “his” table at a bus stop. The “Last Generation” writes, “The court has given up all title to the table to which Henning has glued himself today. It is now his.” Then the journey began: he placed a photo from the train – on the table. On the way he ate a falafel – on the table. “We always eat falafel after court cases,” writes the “Last Generation” on Twitter. When he got home, he was very happy with his new desk. The spokeswoman for the court tells “Bild”: “We could do without the table. The main thing was that the main hearing could continue.” (abbot)
