British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak plans to reshuffle his cabinet on Tuesday, according to media reports.

The priority is to appoint a new general secretary for Sunak’s Conservative Party, reports the BBC, among others. Commerce Secretary Greg Hands is the candidate to succeed Nadhim Zahawi, who was fired a week ago over his involvement in a tax affair. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Dominic Raab, who is under investigation over allegations of harassment, will remain in office for the time being, it was said.

It was also learned that Sunak wanted to set up new departments. The newspaper “Sun” reported that the Ministry of Economy and Energy should be split and – as promised by Sunak last summer – a separate Ministry of Energy should be created. The rest of the previous department will be merged with the Department of Commerce. A separate digital ministry should be separated from the ministry of culture, media, sports and digital affairs.
