The allegations are vehement. In the German magazine “Der Spiegel”, the journalist Anuschka Roshani describes how she was bullied, belittled and harassed for years by the editor-in-chief Fin Canonica in the “Magazine” of the Tamedia newspapers.

She describes verbal blunders by the editor-in-chief and examples of contempt. As a woman and because of her descent as a German citizen with Persian roots, she was belittled. He drew a swastika when she wrote about “biscuits” and not about the word “Gutzi”, which is used in Switzerland.

Company denies allegations

At least as serious are the allegations against the company Tamedia and the publisher Pietro Supino, whose personal connection to Canonica has long been a problem in the industry. The leadership had known about the blunders for a long time, but had done nothing. Even after the women’s letter of March 2021, in which employees complained in an open letter about a working atmosphere that discriminated against women, nothing had happened except nice words.

In a statement to the “Spiegel”, Canonica and the company reject the allegations and threaten legal action. According to its own research, the “Mirror” considers it credible.
