As a sign of solidarity with the protests in Iran, resistance slogans are projected on the Eiffel Tower in Paris for two days. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the landmark “Femme. compete freely.” (Woman, life, freedom) and “#StopExecutionsInIran,” the city of Paris announced. It was intended to pay tribute to the people of Iran who fought valiantly for their freedom as the regime continued to execute protesters .
The death of Iranian Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini in mid-September last year sparked nationwide protests in Iran. The young woman died in police custody after being arrested by the so-called vice police for violating Islamic dress codes. Since then, there have been repeated protests against the repressive course of the government and the Islamic regime. At least 522 people have been killed in the protests, according to human rights activists. Among them are 70 minors and 68 police and security services. (sda/dpa)
