In “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water”, Kiri, played by Sigourney Weaver, is depicted as the Na’vi daughter of Dr. Grace Randolph suggested. No one can explain why their avatar was suddenly pregnant. And the question of who is Kiri’s father is discussed several times. The fact that Dr. Norm Spellman (Joel David Moore) is not the producer is obvious. In any case, there is much to suggest that Kiri has no father at all and was not conceived in the traditional sense.
Personally I believe: Kiri as Na’vi-Jesus
Since we learn in “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” that Kiri has a very special connection to the flora and fauna on Pandora imbued with the Goddess Eywa and even believes she can hear the Goddess herself, there is much to suggest that she was invented by her would. Immediately after going to the cinema for the first time, the author of these lines shared the idea with his companion that Kiri is some kind of “Na’vi Jesus,” says Dr. So Grace Randolph was like how Mary in the Bible came to her child through a deity.
in a interview, spouses Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, who are also behind the scripts for “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” and also for the upcoming “Avatar 3”, were asked if the audience should see Kiri as some sort of Pandora messiah? Jaffa even uses the word “Na’vi-Jesus” to say that they have never been referred to in their own discussions. But then he is immediately silenced by his partner, who points out that they can’t talk about it after all. After all, that’s a mystery. Could it be that the screenwriter mumbled the term “Na’vi Jesus” here?
Popular Fan Theory: Is Kiri a Clone?
However, another theory is spreading among fans. We were introduced to the concept that there is some form of cloning technology in Avatar: The Way Of Water. The memories of the murdered villain Quaritch (Stephen Lang) were transferred to a new avatar body. In a slightly different way, but based on a similar technique, Kiri from Dr. Grace Randolph but don’t you know it yourself?
For fans, this explains why Kiri has a severe epileptic fit when she contacts her dead mother through the Soul Tree. It is simply not possible for two versions of the same life form to come into contact with each other. However, this theory does not explain why Kiri also has her special powers and why she is so closely associated with the goddess Eywa.
Eywa is crucial…
I am therefore not convinced by the cloning theory and continue to believe that Kiri was somehow fathered by the goddess Eywa and possibly their representation on Pandora (like Jesus on Earth). However, “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” touches the subject only marginally. In an interview with director James Cameron made it clear that it was “deliberate” not to solve the mysteries surrounding Kiri just yet. As screenwriter Jaffa revealed, the audience has to guess: “We want people to talk about and think about these things.”

However, his writing partner Amanda Silver indicated that the goddess Eywa is closer to the answer than cloning technology. Finally, the author made the already mentioned -Interview clear, that Kiri is “undeniably deeply connected to Eywa – as Grace was.”
We are convinced: “Avatar 3” will give us answers
“Avatar 3” will probably answer the Kiri question for us. We are relatively sure of that. As producer Jon Landau and director James Cameron revealed in the past: that their series is now designed so that “Avatar 3” would be a satisfying conclusion, if they are no longer allowed to do “Avatar 4” and “Avatar 5”. An early stop was prevented with the excellent box office numbers for “Avatar: The Way Of Water” and Cameron already revealed that the fourth and fifth installments will now come, but this statement still suggests that the already twisted “Avatar 3” will provide answers. Because taking the risk of leaving such a big question unanswered is not really what we mean by “satisfactory conclusion”.
Originally “Avatar 2” and “Avatar 3” were even going to be a movie. It wasn’t until writing the screenplay that everyone involved realized that there was simply too much story for one film. In the already quoted -Interview also reveals Silver and Jaffa, therefore “The Way Of Water” and its direct successor are particularly closely related. This could also explain why the questions about Kiri in the “Avatar 2” confrontation played only a minor role and were not as decisive as one might expect. Because the preparatory work that has already been done will only really play out in “Avatar 3”.
