The injured Briton wants to return to the Ukrainian front

His body is covered with wounds. Shareef Amin (40) was seriously injured in an operation behind enemy lines in Ukraine in early October. The Briton and his comrades were attacked with shells and artillery. Amin suffered multiple gunshot wounds, shrapnel in his arms and legs, and punctures in his lungs. He was lucky to survive the attack. Comrades removed the wounded from the field of fire, as the “Daily Mail” reports.

Amin spent three months in Bristol hospital. The doctors thought it unlikely that he would ever be able to walk again. Due to his injuries, he has lost most of the feeling in his right hand and foot. But the Briton was able to get up again and take his first steps.

But he’s not quite fit yet. Specialists in Britain should now help to fully restore amine. “They’ll reconstruct one of my thumbs from one of my toes, remove an artery from one leg to replace one under my forearm.”

“It’s a war for the whole world”

When the war started in February, Amin immediately flew to Ukraine, the homeland of his betrothed. First he provided humanitarian aid, then he enlisted as a soldier. Because the Briton is battle-hardened. He served nine years in the British 1st Battalion “The Rifles” and had two deployments to Afghanistan. In the army, he was nicknamed “Rambo” for his bravery and endurance on the battlefield. Based on the 1982 film of the same name starring Sylvester Stallone (76).

Despite his serious injuries, “Rambo” wants to return to Ukraine and to the front as soon as he is fit enough again. “I have never felt more fulfilled as a man and as a person than I do now after fighting for Ukraine and serving the Ukrainian people with help and knowledge,” Amin told the Daily Mail.

The only thing that keeps him motivated and positive after all that has happened is the knowledge that he will come out on top again. Because, as he says, “This war is not just Ukraine’s war, it’s a war for the whole world.” (jmh)
