Dog in England starts hair dryer and causes fire “The Snake”: French serial killer leaves Nepalese prison

In England, a dog started a fire by jumping on a bed. The animal was alone in the house in the village of Hockley on Christmas Eve when it jumped on the bed and started a plugged-in hair dryer that was lying there, the fire service in the eastern English county of Essex said.

The bedding then caught fire. The fire brigade was able to quickly extinguish the fire. The dog was waiting at the front door for the resident to return home. Both had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

“We suspect the dog jumped on the bed and turned on the hair dryer, eventually setting the bedding and mattress on fire.”

The fire service itself described the incident as an “insane accident” (“freak accident”). The rescuers asked the population to turn off or unplug electrical appliances before leaving the apartment. (sda/dpa)
