German director Margarethe von Trotta (“Hannah Arendt”) was honored for her life’s work, Italian Marco Bellocchio (“Exterior Night”) for innovative storytelling and Palestinian director Elia Suleiman (“Vom Giessen des Lemonbaums”) for his services to the world cinema.
