Twitter no longer takes action against false corona information Great Barrier Reef becomes ‘endangered world heritage’.

Twitter will no longer act against false information about the corona virus after being taken over by billionaire Elon Musk.

The associated measures were already discontinued last Wednesday, according to a message on a Twitter website. The online service had drawn up rules in 2020 to prevent the spread of false and misleading information about the virus and vaccines. At the time, Twitter pointed to the danger for people who use unscientific treatment methods or can do without vaccinations.

According to previous reports, a total of more than 100,000 posts have been removed and more than 11,000 accounts banned for breaking the rules. The procedure was mainly criticized by the right-wing political camp in the US. Musk himself downplayed the 2020 pandemic.

He was also a critic of the lockdowns, which at times also halted production at his electric carmaker Tesla’s main plant. According to his own statements, the 51-year-old had Covid illness twice. He is in the process of restoring widely banned accounts from Twitter. (sda/dpa)
