Dubravka Suica, Vice President of the European Commission, makes it clear: “Your schools have been destroyed, your houses have been destroyed, your jobs have been lost,” Suica told the editorial network Germany on Saturday.
In their estimation, host countries such as Germany or Poland should be prepared for refugees from Ukraine to remain for years after the end of the war. “I think we should be prepared for that.”
Can’t even go home
A major problem is that these families think they can go home the day after the war. “But then they don’t go home,” said Suica, Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography. “I have to be honest, I experienced the war in Croatia in the former Yugoslavia myself.”
