Now it’s solved. Former US President Donald Trump (76) put an end to the rumors and announced on Tuesday that he will be running for the US presidency again in 2024! After Trump spoke of a “major announcement” last week, this news comes as no surprise.
It is now more than seven years since the Republican announced his first presidential candidacy in June 2015. His speech had it all then. Trump, who later repeatedly made headlines with his right-wing populist rhetoric, did not mince words even then.
Via escalator to address
His announcement took place in the beautiful Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in the heart of New York. The skyscraper represents pure luxury – it is bursting with gold, marble and shoulder pads. In addition to millionaires, billionaires and Saudi princes, Donald Trump also lives in the tower – high up in a million-dollar penthouse.
From there, Trump took up residence in the landmark atrium in June 2015 to announce his presidential candidacy. He rode down an escalator with his wife Melania, 52, and was cheered by Trump fans before giving his speech.
“Our Enemies Get Stronger”
The United States has serious problems, the Republican said in his address to the media. “Our enemies are getting stronger and we are getting weaker.” The “American Dream” is dead and he will bring it back to life. The real estate magnate insisted on discrediting other nations.
The Chinese would steal jobs from the Americans, the Japanese would flood the United States with “millions of cars,” and the Mexicans would only send people with problems to the United States. “They bring drugs, they bring crime, they are rapists,” Trump said in his Trump Tower announcement.
Obamacare is the biggest lie
For the United States to “win” again, the country needs a great leader – like him. “We’re going to make America great again, and I can do that,” Trump said at the time. As chairman, he will mainly focus on creating new jobs.
He also wants to strengthen the military and deal the death knell to the “big lie” called Obamacare. Obamacare is an American federal law that was introduced in 2010 by then-President Barack Obama (61). Among other things, the law regulates access to health insurance and advocates for patient protection and affordable care.
Trump revealed assets of more than eight billion
In his nearly hour-long speech, Trump, who had already flirted with a candidacy in 2010, took every opportunity to boast about his wealth and possessions. Not only is he “really rich”, he also owns the most beautiful golf courses in the world – one in the immediate vicinity of the White House.
His wealth makes him a particularly well-qualified candidate for the office of president. “Prosperity in the United States will be destroyed unless someone like me brings money to the country.” To underline his bizarre self-aggrandizement, he held up a sheet with an overview of his wealth of more than 8.7 billion dollars (converted to almost 8.2 billion francs).
The presidential election in the United States will take place on November 5, 2024.
