Plastic surgery for a nine year old? Sounds crazy, but it actually happened in Japan. A woman named Rucchi dragged her daughter Micchi to the beautician because she didn’t like the girl’s eyes. As the magazine “Vice” reports, the child had a mono-eyelid. However, in Asian countries, double eyelids were often considered the ideal of beauty.
To spare her own daughter the feeling of “not being beautiful,” the mother urged her daughter to undergo surgery. Because she herself suffered a lot from her monolid as a child, she says in the article. Her sister had a double eyelid and that’s why she was always in her shadow. Until she herself had to undergo an operation at the age of 18.
“A girl needs double eyelids. I’ve never seen a girl with a single eyelid that I thought was beautiful,” says the woman.
“If yes, then immediately”
Although her daughter wanted “natural-looking” eyelids, the mother intervened. “If I pay $2800, we’ll do it right.” Not everything went smoothly during the operation. The anesthetic didn’t work at first and Micchi panicked. What was basically a 20-minute procedure turned into a two-hour operation.
Afterwards, Micchi admits to the ‘Vice’ reporter that nothing in her life has changed since the cosmetic procedure. But the mother then asked her, “Don’t people say you look cuter now?” The daughter nods. “Yes they do.”
When asked why her child had to go under the knife at such a young age, the mother replies: “If you do it when you are young, you lose the memory that you used to be ugly.” She did not want her child to grow up “with complexes”.
Breasts and nose also need surgery
If it were up to the mother, the eyes wouldn’t be the only thing Micchi would have to operate on. “In general, I let her decide if she wants to do more plastic surgery. Except for the nose. I wish she would operate on her nose,” she says. And the breasts should be bigger too. “It’s still growing, though, so we don’t know how big they’ll get yet. But if she’s worried they’re too small, I’d give her a nudge.”
Cosmetic surgery on minors is legal in Japan as long as the parents agree. Japan is the 4th most popular country in the world for cosmetic surgery. (lrc)
