The highly anticipated Deadpool 3 has great potential to be a real treat for Marvel fans. Not only does the sequel bring the big-mouthed mercenary played by Ryan Reynolds to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also brings back Hugh Jackman as X-Men fan-favorite Wolverine – an encounter that has been hailed for years.
But that’s not all: as the MCU is currently delving deeper and deeper into the multiverse realms, this will of course also play a part in the new “Deadpool” adventure, after all, the self-ironic anti-hero who knows he’s a comic or comic book character that regularly breaking through the fourth wall with metagags is also downright destined to cause chaos in various worlds. So it’s not surprising that he’s likely to call into action the Time Variance Authority (TVA), which controls exactly such activities, given that recently it has been rumored that TVA agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) could be involved in “Deadpool.” 3″ :
The opportunities for cross-references and guest appearances are of course much more numerous in such a setting and should be used in a very special way. A new rumor now says that Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, will meet the Fantastic Four in his third screen adventure – and not the new Fantastic Four from the one slated for 2025 MCU rebootbut to those of the first two “Fantastic Four” movies of the 2000s! And that could lead to a very special reunion…
Chris Evans in Deadpool 3?
In Deadpool 3, Wade would use the multiverse to visit old superhero franchises and worlds previously owned by the 20th Century Fox studio, as well as Deadpool himself (a few years ago the X-Men and also the Fantastic Four namely at Fox, which is now was purchased by Marvel parent company Disney). That might explain Hugh Jackman’s bigger appearance, but of course it opens the door for all sorts of other gimmicks, like the Fantastic Four comeback just mentioned.
So if the Marvel group incarnation from 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer” actually makes an appearance in “Deadpool 3,” it could be a reunion with Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm – and most importantly Chris Evans (!) as Johnny Storm. Because we remember: Years before he became one of THE MCU’s signature characters as Captain America, Chris Evans had already embodied another Marvel hero as a fiery member of the Fantastic Four.
Of course, even if the rumor about the appearance of Old School Fantastic Four in “Deadpool 3” turns out to be true, there’s no guarantee that all members of the group will actually be part of the party. However, we can hardly imagine that the Marvel executives would miss such a fun opportunity for a (minor) MCU comeback from Chris Evans, who famously donned his Captain America shield after “Avengers: Endgame” hung the nail. The jokes Deadpool could make with a cameo like that would basically write themselves.
Just a rumor so far
At this point, however, we would like to point out once again that the above notification is still a rumor at this point. Although it comes from the often very reliable insider (through ), but until there is official confirmation from Marvel and/or Disney, the whole matter should be treated with caution.
