Firearms case against rapper and Rihanna friend Asap Rocky delayed China’s secret police stations are in Europe too – and they are very active

The possible proceedings against American rapper Asap Rocky (“Praise the Lord”) for an alleged attack with a firearm has been postponed. The 34-year-old musician, partner of pop star Rihanna (34), appeared in court in Los Angeles on Wednesday (local time). There, the judge in charge has set a new hearing for mid-January, as reported by the trade journal “Rolling Stone”. A date must then be set to decide whether the available evidence is sufficient for a trial against Asap Rocky.

The allegations relate to an incident in Hollywood in November 2021. The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is accused of drawing a gun and shooting him in an argument with an acquaintance. The victim suffered minor injuries, according to media reports.

The rapper was arrested at the Los Angeles airport last April after returning from the Caribbean island of Barbados. He was initially released on bail. The musician was accompanied by singer Rihanna from Barbados, who was heavily pregnant at the time. In August, he was charged with an alleged assault with a firearm. He has denied the allegations.

The rapper was convicted in 2019 for assault in Sweden after a violent incident. He was jailed for about four weeks, but managed to avoid a longer prison sentence. This was preceded by an argument in Stockholm in which the musician and two of his companions beat up a man in the street. (sda/dpa)
