Venezuela accuses the US of trying to discredit the vote

He National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela charged this Thursday the US government seeking to discredit the South American nation’s electoral system, after Joe Biden’s administration requested the participation of all anti-Chavista candidates who want to do so in the July 28 presidential election.

“Venezuelan’s electoral authority categorically rejects insolent and false questions United States Department of State at the CNE, with the aim of discrediting one of the strongest institutions of the strong Venezuelan democracy,” the electoral body said in a statement published in X.

Likewise, he said the Caribbean nation’s democracy is supported by a number of “very advanced pillars,” among which the voting system stands out, “which over the past few years has demonstrated the highest standards of professionalism and security, contrasting with the United States’ electoral system, which is outdated and ineffective.” “.

The CNE stated that Venezuelans will be able to choose from a total of 13 registered candidates, proposed by 37 political organizations, which, he believes, is “an incredible demonstration of the political and ideological diversity of the political offer in our country.”

“The nomination of candidates was successfully completed, carried out at the will of each of the registered organizations with political goals,” he added.

On Wednesday, the United States persisted with Venezuela’s president, Nicolas Maduroin which he allows participation in the presidential elections in July to all opposition candidates who wish to do so.

The Biden administration thus reiterated its position on the disqualification of the main opponent Maria Corina Machado and the impossibility of the main anti-Chavista coalition, Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD)for registration acc Corina Yoris as a substitute.

PUD reported on Tuesday that it managed to register, temporarily, Edmundo González Urrutiawhich can be replaced from the following April 1, as long as there is no administrative penalty or suspension.
