Moritz Riedacher dropped out of college to travel around Germany as a full-time rioter.

Moritz Riedacher (27) was one of the best-known faces of the ‘Last Generation’. The German held the road 25 times and took part in 60 blockades. When he was fined, he quickly begged for money online.

Now the 27-year-old has dropped out. “The climate protest has caused me severe suffering and torment – and destroyed me psychologically,” he tells “Bild”. Two years ago he gave up his studies to travel around the country as a full-time radical.

“Many nights I couldn’t sleep”

But the Stuttgart resident didn’t leave because he regretted his actions – on the contrary: “I continued to support the goals of the ‘Last Generation’.” But: “The constant aggressive reactions from drivers have put an increasing burden on me psychologically and mentally. Added to this was the exhaustion of traveling throughout Germany.”

For a long time he thought he could get over it. “But it became increasingly difficult for me to calm down,” says Riedacher. «Many nights I did not sleep. Every time I fell asleep I woke up from nightmares.”

Now the climate glue wants to enter politics

There is one incident in particular that he cannot forget: “During a road blockade last September, a driver attacked me with pepper spray and kicked me.” Since then, he has not mustered the courage to “expose himself to such uncontrolled rage.”

In the winter, the climate glue decided to stop disrupting business operations. “Luckily I pulled the emergency brake in time and sought professional help.” Now the German wants to get involved in politics. In June he will stand as a candidate for the Animal Protection Party in the municipal elections in Stuttgart. (obf)
