In this library you can pay fines with photos of cats “Their names are WHO? Hitler Stole My Potato?”: Which Of These Absurd Band Names Are Real?

Public libraries in Massachusetts have been struggling with fewer visitors since the pandemic and have therefore launched the ‘Fee Fee Forgiveness’ project. Anyone who returns a book late or has damaged it can simply attach a photo of a cat – and will not receive a fine. This even applies to bookworms who have lost the borrowed books.

This is intended to reduce the barrier to returning to the library. And it seems to be working: Hundreds of books have already been returned to the Worcester Public Library in the first few days since the project started.

It is clear that the choice fell on Büsis. Jason Homer of the Worcester Public Library said, “A librarian is a book lover, a cardigan lover and a cat lover.” And because the library staff in Worcester have many cats at home, they came up with the idea of waiving a fine in exchange for a cat photo or drawing.
