SBB advises against traveling by rail to Germany for the next 35 hours Happy people with bad luck: why moving in the future will no longer be worthwhile for lottery winners

The German train drivers’ union largely paralyzes train traffic for 35 hours. Tickets already booked can be used at another time.

The strike of the German Locomotive Drivers’ Union (GDL) started on Thursday evening. This should take 35 hours. The reason is the tariff dispute between the GDL and the Deutsche Bahn DB. This is expected to cause massive disruptions to train traffic over the next two days.

The SBB advises against traveling by rail to Germany on its website: “The strike schedule only provides a very limited basic supply. Postpone your trip to another time.” Deutsche Bahn offers to postpone the trip and use the ticket sooner or later.

According to a report by Radio SRF, it is the last strike announced in advance by the GDL. This would be followed by a new phase in the labor dispute with so-called ‘wave strikes’: these would no longer be announced and their duration would not be announced.

There is also a strike at Lufthansa in Germany on Thursday. The Verdi trade union has called on thousands of employees to stop working. Up to 90 percent of flights are likely to be cancelled. (sbü/aargauerzeitung.ch)
