Navalnaya mourns together with her daughter on Instagram because four students in Germany were allegedly injured with a knife

After the death of Kremlin opponent Alexei Navalny in a prison camp, his wife Julia published the first photo together with their grieving daughter Darya on Instagram.

‘My sweet little girl. I flew to you to hug and support you, but you sit there and support me,” Yulia Navalnaya wrote in a message published on Thursday.

Navalny, who in addition to 23-year-old Darya, also has a 15-year-old son, died on Friday in a prison camp in the Arctic. In the past, Darya Navalnaya had repeatedly made political demands for the release of her imprisoned father and also made speeches in his honor at awards ceremonies. She studies at Stanford University in the US.

Navalny’s widow did not immediately travel to see the children on Friday, but initially blamed Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin for her husband’s fate in front of the world at the Munich Security Conference.

On Monday she was a guest in Brussels at the meeting of EU foreign ministers and also published a video declaring war on Putin. She wants to continue her husband’s work. Alexei Navalny, for example, denounced corruption in the Russian power apparatus and publicly described Putin as a murderer.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, meanwhile, verbally attacked the dead man and his widow in an interview he published on his Telegram channel. He initially said he could not say anything good about Navalny, before criticizing Navalnaya.

Regarding photos of the grieving widow, he said:

Navalny’s team responded to Medvedev’s smear by saying: «Villain. Bad bastard.”

According to authorities, Navalny died on February 16 in the prison camp with the unofficial name ‘Polar Wolf’ in the Siberian Arctic region of Yamal. The politician, weakened by a poison attack in 2020 and repeated solitary confinement in the camp, is said to have collapsed during a tour of the icy prison and died despite attempts to revive him.
