Jennie Libertini hardly speaks anymore. On her behalf, her friends revealed the secret of longevity. She has been doing great since her divorce.

Her housemates describe her as “just cheerful” and “very caring”: Jennie Libertini from Maryland in the US is still fit and active – at the age of 109. She celebrated her birthday on February 5 and had a bingo party at the nursing home, a bingo party. She also explained what keeps her young. Libertini is convinced that she has grown so old because she has no man by her side.

Libertini, who was born in 1915 as the daughter of Sicilian immigrants, has lived without a husband for a long time. According to her friend and roommate Peggy Bocklage, who speaks on behalf of the energetic retiree, this is the key to a long life. “She hasn’t had a husband for 30 years and is divorced, so no stress,” she told CBS News.

Son died at age 83

Libertini was one of the first female Social Security Administration employees in America, married and had a son named Michael. He cared for his mother until he died at the age of 83 – the then 105-year-old bingo queen then moved into the house.

Although she doesn’t speak much and has hearing problems, the American always wins at bingo. Housemate Bocklage explains that she has someone who sits with her and helps her: “She looks at the board, sees the numbers and wins.”

An accident left her in a wheelchair

Marcy Shea-Frank, the director of the home, explains how the 109-year-old has been confined to a wheelchair since a nasty fall. “Then she stopped communicating.” Yet she is always there at bingo.

She also made it her job to ensure that the other residents of the home were eating enough. Shea-Frank said Libertini sometimes even feeds others from her own plate, which is why many describe her as so caring. (Unpleasant)
