At least one person died, and between 10 and 15 were injured this Wednesday in a shooting that happened at the end of a parade to celebrate Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl in Kansas City (Missouri, USA).
The incident occurred in a parking lot near Union Station, Kansas City’s central train station, according to the chief of the local police department, he said at a news conference. Stacey Graves.
Graves also reported the arrest of “two armed individuals,” although he has not yet confirmed whether they are the perpetrators of the shooting.
In the state of Missouri, it is legal to carry a gun on the street.
“I’m angry about what happened today. People who attended this celebration should expect a safe environment,” said Graves, who reported that nearly 800 insurance agents were at the event.
The police chief also reported that there were between 10 and 15 injured, some from gunshot wounds and others with injuries during the stampede caused by the gunshots.
The White House reported that the President of the United States, Joe Bidenhe was tipped off about what happened, as is usually the case with shootings in the country.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomesposted a message on the X social network saying, “We’re praying for Kansas City.”
Thousands of people took to the streets of Kansas City to celebrate with their team Super Bowl LVIII who won the game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday with a score of 25-22.
A few minutes before the event, a bus carrying the parade of players – including singer Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce – passed through the streets of the city to celebrate the victory with fans.
The singer, who was at the game in Las Vegas on Sunday, did not participate in the festivities this Wednesday.
