Attack in London: Man injures several people with corrosive liquid

A woman and her two children were injured in a caustic attack in London. In addition, nine other people were injured, including passers-by who wanted to help the victims after Wednesday evening’s incident, the police announced on Thursday evening.

A man fled the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police. She later published the photo from a surveillance camera in a north London supermarket showing the wanted man. Accordingly, he himself has serious facial injuries that make him recognizable. According to initial investigations, he knew the children’s mother. “While this appears to be a targeted attack, he is a dangerous individual and we need to find him urgently,” said Chief Inspector Gabriel Cameron.

‘Life-changing’ injuries

The mother, 31 years old, and her two daughters, aged eight and three, are still in hospital. Three other women who bravely came to their aid left the clinic with minor chemical burns. Another helper and five police officers who were called in were also slightly injured.

Investigators were called to the scene in the southern district of Clapham on Wednesday evening. Photos showed an open car, the street was cordoned off. The police received a report that a man had thrown a child to the ground. In addition, a substance was allegedly thrown – investigators assume it was lye.

The mother and her youngest daughter suffered likely “life-changing” injuries, police said. The background to the crime was unclear and initially no one was arrested.
