Pope’s employee writes erotic literature – Conservatives are outraged that American inflation is rising more than expected in December

Anna von Stefanelli /

In an era when discussions about sexuality and its place in the church are becoming increasingly important, Argentine Archbishop Victor Manuel Fernández is stepping into the spotlight. Fernández, also known as a former ghostwriter for Pope Francis, is currently at the center of a storm of criticism. However, because of his 1998 book entitled “La Pasión Mística. Espiritualidad en sensualidad».

In this work the priest not only writes about mystical passion, but he also dares to make a connection between sexuality and spirituality. The work, which is about kissing and orgasms, among other things, leads to heated controversies.

The book was not on the list of Fernández’s writings that the Vatican published when he was appointed head of the powerful Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The slim work contains vivid descriptions of male and female anatomy. Also passages on sexual desire, pornography, sexual gratification and dominance. Women are often insatiable, he says. Conservative voices in particular are raising their voices against the work.

Pope Francis’ ghostwriter criticized for erotic literature

Critics, especially the conservative blog ‘Messa in Latino’, are making serious accusations against Archbishop Fernández. They claim his book promotes a “pornocracy” by linking orgasms to spirituality. The portal katholisch.de summarizes the accusations and emphasizes that, according to Fernández, the mystical experience is “reduced” to an orgasm.

In addition to the accusations of ‘pornocracy’, Fernández is also facing attacks for his open attitude towards the LGBT community. In an interview with the Italian newspaper “La Stampa,” he dismissed the accusations as “evangelical acts.” He also emphasizes that today he would ‘write his book differently’: He admits that certain passages taken “out of context” can lead to misunderstandings.

Pope employee receives huge threats

In an interview with the newspaper, Archbishop Fernández reported threatening messages that had reached him, including messages such as “We will destroy you.” Nevertheless, he defends his position as ‘evangelical’. He points out that it is important for clergy to “welcome and embrace people” in the spirit of Jesus.especially in regards to homosexual couples.

Fernández also confirms that he stopped publishing it shortly after its publication and never agreed to a new edition.

The criticism comes just after Pope Francis cleared the way for the Catholic Church to bless same-sex couples in December.

Following criticism, the Vatican authorities, led by Cardinal Prefect Fernández, issued a press release on Thursday. It emphasizes a “real development that goes beyond what has been said about the blessings by the Magisterium and in the official texts of the Church.”

The Vatican had previously rejected blessing same-sex couples, but Francis is showing a desire for a church open to all people. Early in his pontificate in 2013, he emphasized: “If someone is homosexual and seeks God with good will, who am I to judge?”
