The Toyota Yaris GR is outclassed by this brutal Lexus
Not many test cars get a nine as a test grade at Autovisie. The new Toyota Yaris GR managed to surprise again at the Jarama circuit. But the little Japanese can be surpassed by the cheapest Lexus model.
If you want to drive a new Lexus for as little money as possible, then look no further than the Lexus LBX. However, this special edition will be significantly cheaper.
Competitor of the Toyota Yaris GR
The price of the Toyota Yaris GR is also not comparable to a normal Yaris. However, for just under 60 grand (price in 2021), you can get the best driver’s car of 2021. In terms of performance, the Yaris is surpassed by the Lexus LBX Morizo RR.
Like the Toyota, this Lexus also has a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder. In the LBX, the power source produces 305 hp and 400 Nm of torque, 44 hp and 10 Nm more than in the Yaris.
The engine in the Lexus is also paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the power is distributed to all four wheels.
Whether this Lexus LBX is actually more fun to drive than the Toyota remains to be seen. The brand doesn’t yet know much about the suspension and chassis settings.
Design Lexus LBX Morizo RR
We see some exterior customizations on this Lexus LBX Morizo RR. It has two exhaust tailpipes, is equipped with sporty bumpers and there is a yellow stripe between the radiator grille and the hood. The concept car sits on 19-inch wheels with large yellow brake calipers behind it.
The competitor Toyota Yaris GR is just a concept for now. It remains to be seen whether the model will ever actually appear on the (European) price list. Would you like to stay up to date with all the news about this model? Then subscribe to the Autovisie newsletter.
