Putin campaigns in a greenhouse – and talks about his sports program Scorpions mourns drummer James Kottak

Russia has presidential elections in just over two months. The winner has actually already been determined: Vladimir Putin.

Nevertheless, the current and likely future Russian president is busy promoting himself and campaigning. He currently lives on an almost deserted peninsula, just 60 kilometers from the US – and there he speaks highly of himself.

Putin feels the power

During his election campaign in Anadyr, the capital of the Chukotka region in the Far East, 71-year-old Vladimir Putin announced that, despite his old age, he still considers himself fully capable – and ideally prepared for the office of president:

“I feel within me the strength and energy to work on fulfilling the tasks facing the country.”

He then spoke to citizens and also told private matters. He said he trained two hours a day. During his law studies he qualified as a carpenter and earned quite a bit of money building windows, the ex-secret agent reports.

Chukotka?

Yes, Chukotka. The Chukchi Autonomous Okrug is an administrative unit in Russia and is located in the far northeast of Russia.

In general, Chukotka is very sparsely populated: the region has an area of 721,481 km² and approximately 50,500 inhabitants. By comparison, Switzerland has an area of approximately 41,000 km² and 8,800,000 inhabitants.

The administrative center of the region, Anadyr, is the largest city with approximately 15,000 inhabitants.

In Anadyr, where winter is most of the year, Putin was shown tomato production in a greenhouse on Wednesday. The Russian government has released a photo of Putin admiring tomatoes – with a sepia filter.

Putin promised to solve regional problems.

Roman Abramovich was governor of Chukotka from 2001 to 2008. He invested billions of rubles, including his own money, in the Chukotka economy, expanding infrastructure, schools and housing. However, there are currently problems with the heat supply – but Putin did not want to comment on that.

However, the conversation turned to the war in Ukraine. Putin promised the Chukotka veterans of the war of aggression he ordered that they would be able to remain in the army after injury and work in the collection offices.
