60 years on the road without a driver’s license – now the police have arrested the Englishman. No more pack in the Black Forest: only wolf pups run over by Swiss

Police in the English county of Lancashire have caught a man driving without a license and whose only qualification was a failed driving test in the 1960s.

As the BBC reported on Wednesday, the man had been offered a learner’s permit, but it had expired decades ago. In Britain, as in Switzerland, learner drivers can drive for a limited time accompanied by a qualified passenger and with an L on the car.

The man was caught violating traffic rules. The car was seized.

According to the report, the incident occurred on Tuesday on a motorway near the northern English city of Preston. About a year ago, a man who said he had been driving without a license for 70 years was caught behind the wheel near Nottingham. (yam/sda/dpa)
