Deadly drama in the American state of Florida. A teenager (14) shot his sister (†23) during an argument about Christmas presents.
According to local police, an argument broke out in the Largo, West Florida, household on Christmas Eve over who received the most presents. 14-year-old Damarcus C.* then pulled out a gun and shot his sister in the chest. The mother of two was carrying her 10-month-old son in a baby carrier and died from serious injuries, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri announced Wednesday evening.
The teenager was shot by his older brother Darcus C.* (15) after the crime. Darcus C. ran out of the house after the shooting and dropped the gun. He was later arrested by the police.
Damarcus C. was taken to hospital in a stable condition and is under police guard. He will be taken into custody after being released from hospital, police said.
The Public Prosecution Service is currently investigating whether it will charge Damarcus C. as an adult. Both teens have criminal records.
“This is what happens when young criminals carry guns,” Gualtieri said. “They get upset, don’t know how to deal with things and end up shooting each other.” (zis)
