Shah or Pope, He Met Them All: Henry Kissinger in 14 Photos What does Drake have to do with Albania? Fans are going crazy over the new music video

Henry Kissinger lived to be 100. During this long life he met many famous people, especially in his position as US Secretary of State in the 1970s.

Henry Kissinger visited the People’s Republic of China as US National Security Advisor in October 1971. The explosive thing is that the trip was initially secret because the two countries had no diplomatic relations at the time.

This photo was taken on February 15, 1972: Kissinger and US President Nixon met Mao Zedong in Beijing.

On January 23, 1973, the last meeting between the North Vietnamese and American delegations took place in Paris. There they negotiated a ceasefire and the withdrawal of American troops. The photo shows Henry Kissinger next to Vietnamese diplomats.

That same year, Henry Kissinger also received the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the US war in Vietnam. Here Richard Nixon congratulates him on the award. Kissinger had recently been appointed as the new US Secretary of State.

Henry Kissinger had a lot to do with communists. In addition to meetings with Chinese or North Vietnamese diplomats, there were also meetings with representatives of the Soviet Union. Pictured here is Kissinger’s meeting with Soviet head of state Leonid Brezhnev on March 25, 1974.

On October 30, 1973, Henry Kissinger met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ismail Fahmi, just days after the end of the Yom Kippur War. Kissinger played a crucial role in ending the war.

Kissinger also met with Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan in Washington on March 29, 1974. They discussed peace in the Middle East.

The Middle East was a priority for Kissinger. On February 19, 1975, he met the last Shah of Iran in Zurich, just four years before his fall.

Also the now canonized Pope Paul VI. met Henry Kissinger on July 14, 1974 in Rome.

Two Fighters Against Communism: Pope John Paul II also met Kissinger for a private audience at the Vatican in 1979. At that time, he was no longer Secretary of State, but instead director of the Council on Foreign Relations think tank.

Even in his later years, Henry Kissinger remained an influential figure. Here he is seen with his wife Nancy as they appear at the White House for a tribute to the Queen on May 14, 1991.

Henry Kissinger loved sports. In this photo you see him at the US Open in 1983.

Thanks to a mix of humor and quick wit, Kissinger was also a welcome party guest. You could talk to him about the economy, politics or the World Cup.
