Mega raids in four German states: Early Thursday morning, police officers searched several properties in Berlin, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein.
According to the German Ministry of the Interior, the measures were ordered by the responsible administrative courts to enforce the bans and further clarify the banned structures of these groups. The German Ministry of the Interior banned the activities of the two organizations in early November.
A total of 15 objects were searched. According to a police spokeswoman, searches have been carried out at eleven locations in Berlin alone to secure evidence and belongings.
“We continue our consistent action against radical Islamists,” said Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD). “With the bans against Hamas and Samidoun in Germany, we have sent a clear signal that we will not tolerate any glorification or support of Hamas’ barbaric terror against Israel.”
On November 2, Faeser had the sub-organization “Samidoun Germany”, which is part of the international network “Samidoun – Palestinian Solidarity Network”, banned and dissolved. “We are closely monitoring the Islamist scene,” Faeser emphasized. “Islamists and anti-Semites cannot and should not feel safe anywhere here.” Samidoun supports the use of violence as a means to defend political positions and supports associations that threaten to attack.
