The surveillance camera captured the incident. One helper was seriously injured in the face by the criminal.

The surveillance camera captured the shocking scenes in the South Korean city of Jinju: a young man in his twenties enters a supermarket and sees an employee wearing her hair short.

As police later reported, he told her: “You have short hair, you must be a feminist. I’m a male chauvinist and I think feminists deserve to be defeated.” It says – and hits the woman.

Fractures in the face

A customer in his fifties wants to help the woman who was attacked and tries to stop the madman. He then beat up the man, hitting him with a chair and causing fractures to his face. The employee suffered serious ear injuries and ligament bruises and strains during the attack.

Only when the police arrived could the perpetrator be arrested. Authorities said he was intoxicated and already receiving psychiatric treatment. He explained that he could not remember the incident because he was drunk.

‘Feminist’ is considered a swear word in Korea

In South Korea, the word ‘feminist’ is still considered a swear word by many men.

When South Korean archer An San, 22, won three gold medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, many men in her home country criticized her short hair and called her a feminist, according to the Independent.
