Just a few days after Hamas’ major attack on Israel, several hundred anti-Israel demonstrators gathered in Munich (D) to demonstrate for the Palestinians. Bavarian Radio cameras were also present. And these captured incredible words.
One of the participants, Maximilian H.*, living in Munich, said: “I just don’t understand the act. But when I look at what happened in the years before, when I look at this act, I say: that is far too little.” The statements are shocking and put Hamas’ atrocities on October 7 into perspective.
H.’s statements now also have consequences. For the first time since the outbreak of the conflict, charges have been filed in Germany against an opponent of Israel in an accelerated procedure. “After the perpetrator was identified, charges were filed at the Munich District Court in an accelerated procedure on October 30. The accused, a 27-year-old from Munich, and about 100 other people took part in a previously banned gathering in solidarity with the Palestinian people on October 13 at Odeonsplatz in Munich,” chief prosecutor Sebastian Murer told the “Bild” newspaper.
As the newspaper further writes, Maximilian H. could face a fine or even a prison sentence of up to three years if convicted. The Public Prosecution Service: “The defendants’ expressions of sympathy have the potential to cause significant unrest among the German population.”
