It is a miracle that they survived this attack. Two students in the US were attacked by an adult grizzly bear. The two men were traveling with two colleagues in the Shoshone National Forest in the US state of Wyoming. According to American media, the group was looking for antlers.
At some point, the group broke up. Kendall Cummings and Brady Lowry went on together. Then they discover something strange on the ground. Lowry looks intently and realizes: This is bear poo. It’s too late then. “Immediately after I said that, the bear came out of the bushes and pounced on me,” Lowry told US broadcaster KSL-TV.
He didn’t even know what happened to him. “He was shaking me back and forth and I didn’t know what to do,” Lowry said. “I curled up in a ball and he grabbed me a few more times.” Meanwhile, his friend tried to distract the animal. He yelled at him. When that didn’t work, he tried kicks and punches. Finally, he even grabbed his fur. Only then did the bear let go of Lowry and attack Cummings. After a few bites, the animal ran away.
Men wore bear spray
It seemed the two men had endured the worst. No! The bear came back and pounced on Cummings. “He caught me in the face, bit it and then fled again,” said the badly beaten American student. Covered in blood, he sought his friends. “We heard him scream and then we saw him. It was covered in blood,” Lowry said.
When rescuers arrived, Cummings was treated at the scene and taken to hospital by helicopter. “I’m glad all four of us got off this mountain.” The attack is currently under investigation by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, officials said in a press release. (lrc)
