An Israeli special forces unit says it has excavated a Hamas hideout in Gaza and made important discoveries.

According to Israeli media, the commander of the Givati reconnaissance unit reported that a hideout of Najaba militia terrorists and Hamas members had been broken into in northern Gaza. On Friday, Israeli military spokesmen spoke only about an operation in the Gaza Strip in which important Hamas terrorist documents were found.

There were gun battles, said the brigade commander, whose name appears only as “Z.” “We killed some, destroyed underground shafts and brought back important intelligence material,” he said, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The search found important documents that, among other things, explained Hamas’s command structures. There were also written orders to the terrorist units. Even personal information about Hamas commanders was obtained.

Brigade fights terror from the Gaza Strip

“These materials will be reviewed by the Intelligence Corps and other relevant units and provided to the IDF [die israelischen Verteidigungsstreitkräfte] serve in future combat operations,” the Army said. The findings are similar to documents found on slain Hamas terrorists after the October 7 attacks.

Israel says it has set itself the goal of eradicating Hamas in Gaza. Part of the current operations, especially in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, involve targeted attacks on Hamas cells.

The Givati Brigade is mainly active in the fight against terrorists from the Gaza Strip. It was founded in 1956, then briefly disbanded and returned to service in 1983. It is one of Israel’s five infantry brigades.

According to the Israeli online medium “YnetNews”, the action took place in the city of Jabalia. Deaths and injuries were reported on Tuesday in an attack on what the UN says is the largest refugee camp in Jabalia.

Israel explained the airstrikes by saying there were Hamas cells in parts of the city. Ground troops were shot at from buildings in the camp. According to the army, dozens of terrorists have been killed. According to Palestinian information, 195 people were killed and 777 injured.
