Zelenskyj: Russia suffers loss of control – the nightly update without photos “Tiktok-ization” of Salafism: Clan boss is threatened with investigations because of Hitler’s statement

Following the anti-Semitic violence in the Russian republic of Dagestan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that Moscow has once again lost control. Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, on the other hand, used the riots in the south of his country to blame the West and justify his own war of aggression against Ukraine. And the Netherlands promises Kiev a quick delivery of the promised F-16 fighter jets.

Zelensky: Russia has lost power in Dagestan

Russia has mobilized all its forces to hold the occupied Ukrainian territories in its war of aggression that has been going on for more than 20 months, Zelensky said in his evening video address on Monday. “But in doing so, they have polluted their own territory with such a level of hatred and humiliation that Russia is losing control over events for the second time this year,” said the Ukrainian head of state, who himself has Jewish roots.

First, mutinous Russian mercenaries marched toward Moscow, Zelensky said, referring to the June uprising of Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, who has since died. And now it can be seen that the power of the authorities in Dagestan is decreasing, Zelenskyj continued.

There were unprecedented anti-Jewish excesses in Russia’s Muslim-dominated Caucasus on Sunday evening. In Dagestan’s capital Makhachkala, an angry crowd stormed the airport after a plane from Israel landed there. Serious riots followed, with stones thrown at passengers. According to Russian authorities, about twenty people were injured. More than 80 people had been arrested by Monday evening.

Putin uses anti-Semitic riots to level accusations against the West

Meanwhile, Kremlin leader Putin used the riots in Dagestan to level accusations against the West. The events in Makhachkala were inspired in no small part by Ukrainian territory, “at the hands of Western secret services,” he said during a meeting on the Russian security situation. He did not provide any evidence to support the claim that the incident in the Muslim-dominated North Caucasus was allegedly controlled by foreign countries.

However, in this context, the 71-year-old once again justified his own war of aggression against Ukraine. Those who really fight for truth and justice are the Russian soldiers, Putin said. The International Criminal Court has already issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president for alleged war crimes in Ukraine.

The Netherlands promises Ukraine fast delivery of F-16s

The Netherlands wants to provide Ukraine with the promised fighter jets within two weeks. The F-16 would be at the training center in Romania in two weeks, Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced on Platform X. Ukrainian pilots will be trained for these machines in Romania. “This means that the training of Ukrainian pilots can start quickly,” Rutte wrote.

Russian authorities auction Zelensky’s apartment in Crimea

According to a media report, Russian authorities have auctioned off Zelensky’s family’s apartment in Crimea’s Black Sea peninsula, which was annexed in 2014. The property was sold at auction for 44.3 million rubles (about 440,000 euros), Russian state news agency Tass reported. There were only two bidders in total. The approximately 120 square meter apartment in the luxury spa town of Yalta was nationalized by the Russian authorities in 2023. Officially it belonged to Zelensky’s wife, Olena Zelenska.

That will be important on Tuesday

Heavy fighting continues in eastern and southern Ukraine. The already completely destroyed city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region, which the Russian army wants to occupy, is still under particularly heavy fire. (sda/dpa)
