The deaths were “a direct result of Israel’s illegal actions against the people of Gaza,” a South African Foreign Ministry statement said on Monday.
Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor called for an “immediate ceasefire” and the “immediate opening of a humanitarian corridor.” South Africa also called on the United Nations to set up a special force to protect Palestinian civilians from further bombing.
