Thousands of residents of the Gaza Strip, which has been bombed by Israel for three weeks, have broken into warehouses and distribution centers of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). The UN said on Sunday it had stolen flour and other essential goods. UNRWA stated:
After the Hamas attack on October 7, Israel completely closed off the Gaza Strip. As a result, the supply of relief supplies to the approximately 2.3 million people living there has virtually come to a standstill. Individual aid convoys only reach the population via the Egyptian border crossing at Rafah.

“Market supply is running out, while humanitarian aid arriving in the Gaza Strip on trucks from Egypt is insufficient,” UNRWA said. The current aid convoy system is doomed to failure.
In the coming week, Israel plans to increase support for aid deliveries from Egypt to the Gaza Strip, Israeli Colonel Elad Goren of the Cogat coordination center told journalists.
Founded in 1949 after the first Arab-Israeli war, UNRWA provides public services such as schools, primary health care and humanitarian aid. The organization works in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. But the organization is not without controversy; she is repeatedly accused of being ideologically close to Hamas.
On Saturday evening, the Israeli army expanded its ground operations in the Gaza Strip, which had previously been limited to individual advances, and advanced with tanks into the north of the country.
The Israeli Defense Ministry’s Cogat Coordination Office once again called on the Palestinian civilian population to move to a so-called humanitarian zone in the south of the area. Not only are there ground troops in the north of the coastal strip, but Israel is also attacking this part of the Gaza Strip en masse. But bombs are also falling in the south.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Saturday evening about the start of the second phase of the war. He warned journalists in Tel Aviv that the war would be long and hard:
The Gaza Strip is controlled by the terrorist organization Hamas. Israel has been bombing the Gaza Strip since the Hamas attack on October 7, which left about 1,400 dead on the Israeli side. The stated goal is to destroy the terrorist organization Hamas. Up to 8,000 Palestinians may have lost their lives so far, the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Health Authority announced on Sunday.
