Climate activist Martha Krumpeck has glued herself to a table in the courtroom.

A court ruling in Germany on Monday was not to Martha Krumpeck’s satisfaction. What did the climate activist do? In protest, she tied herself up with tape in the courtroom.

The Austrian Krumpeck, who is part of the organization ‘Last Generation’, had to answer to the court in Frankfurt am Main (D) for a protest. In April 2022, she and other activists taped the street, blocking traffic.

The court sentenced Krumpeck to one month in prison for attempted coercion.

A “scandal judgment”

In the eyes of Krumpeck, the verdict is scandalous. After the announcement, she quickly stood in the courtroom.

However, the gluing was soon moved outside. Krumpeck was carried out of the courthouse by officers, along with the table she was tied to.

Once outside, the activist criticized the judiciary in a video that ‘Last Generation’ published on X.

It is a “scandal judgment”. In other cases, the procedure was stopped, but she was given a prison sentence. In their eyes this is “pure fossil madness”. She speaks of a “revenge judgment”.

Krumpeck promises that the punishment will not deter her from her activism. “I will continue to resist peacefully.” (bab)
